Freon "class dismissed" natural refrigeration into the market "new favorite"

Under the dual pressure of protecting the ozone layer and mitigating global warming, traditional refrigerants such as "freon" have gradually come to the brink of extinction. Recently held in the "China refrigeration exhibition" theme seminar, the reporter found that a kind of natural "refrigeration motor technology" is becoming the market "new favorite".

Many people know "freon" from the home refrigerator, it is called "fluorinated greenhouse gases" by scientists, mainly including hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), the former is the notorious "ozone layer killer", the latter is the "potential stock" to accelerate global warming. The study found that fluorinated greenhouse gases have a global warming potential thousands of times higher than carbon dioxide, and already account for 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions. If not eliminated, this figure is expected to rise to 8.6% by 2050, a "contribution" equivalent to the carbon dioxide emitted by the world's cars in 2004.

Between the two fluorinated greenhouse gases, the Montreal Protocol opted for a "Rob Peter to pay Paul" approach, allowing HFCS to be used as temporary substitutes while an "arrest warrant" was issued for HFCS. While this protects the ozone layer, it accelerates global warming.

For this reason, it is necessary to find an alternative substance that offers the best of both worlds. Experts say natural refrigerants, such as carbon dioxide, ammonia, water and air, are the best of both worlds. Natural cooling technology is already used in parts of Europe and China, and more than 200 million "green freezers" using natural cooling technology have been built worldwide.

"Natural refrigerants are very suitable for promotion in China, and companies can upgrade their products without spending too much." Professor Wang Ruzhu, director of the Institute of Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, said at the conference that in addition to its environmental significance, natural refrigerants are as expensive as, or even cheaper than, traditional refrigerants such as freon. At present, matching energy-saving technology has emerged.

It is understood that three of China's four major freezer production bases have partially used natural refrigeration technology, and 35% of household freezers sold in China belong to "green freezers". However, most refrigeration companies, especially commercial freezer manufacturers, still rely heavily on traditional technology.

China, the world's largest producer of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, will completely freeze hydrochlorofluorocarbons in 2013. How to choose the substitutes scientifically has become an urgent problem for the development of refrigeration industry in China. In this regard, Greenpeace corporate social responsibility project director Fan Liping called on the meeting, the government should formulate relevant regulations as soon as possible, vigorously promote natural refrigeration technology, so that in the transition period of China's refrigeration industry beyond the pollution of the environment, unsustainable development stage, directly towards cleaner production.
